    HOD, Information and Communication Technology

Introduction

The Information Technology Department is one of the expandboxs of the National Broacast Academy. It was established to teach subjects that will broaden the knowledge of the participants on the use of computer system as well as its areas of application in different field.

It provides training and development services through a programme of intensive hands-on-training on computer facilities using state of the art technique and course modules.

The department runs three (3) regular programmes and certificates are awarded at the end of successful completion of each course.

 

Basic Information and Communication Technology

The course is designed for new entrants. It runs twice every year.

Aim : The aim of the Basic Course is to provide a basic understanding (theory and practical) of computer and its application. It offers particiants the basic knowledge of Information Technology.

The course content includes :

  • Computer Fundamentals
  • Networking and Internet Concept
  • Windows Operating Systems (latest version)
  • Information Technology Concepts
  • Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Powerpoint, etc)
  • Research Project

Eligibility : To be eligible for a basic course, candidates must have passed school certificate (WAEC or NECO) examinations with atleast five (5) credits including English Language and Mathematics, practising professionals in any field can also apply.

 

Intermediate Information and Communication Technology

This course comes up once in a year. Those qualified for it include holders of either the FRCN Computer Appreciation Course Certificate or the FRCN Computer Application/Secretariat Administration Course Certificate or the National Broadcast Academy basic IT Course Certificate or any higher qualification as may be approved by the school.

Aim : This is to further strengthen the fundamental principles in Information Technology in order to cope with the current trend in Information Technology.

Course Content : This includes :

  • Computer Graphic and Editing
  • Data Management (Microsoft Access or other Database Package)
  • Internet Technology and Application
  • Presentation using Microsoft Powerpoint, Bsic System Management, Introduction to Computer Programming
  • Research Project

Eligibility : To be eligible, candidate must have completed and passed the Basic Information Technology course plus five (5) credits in school examination including English and Mathematics.

 

Advanced Information and Communication Technology

It comes up once in a year and is available only to holders of the National Broadcast Academy Intermediate IT Course Certificate or any higher qualification as may be approved by the school.

Aim : Is to broaden the knowledge of candidate on advanced technology in the Information Technology discipline

Course Content :

  • Advanced Computer Graphics and Editing
  • Data Handling and Management (Data Validation, Verification and Security)
  • Information Management System
  • Advanced Systems Management
  • Research Project

Eligibility : It is available to only candidates expected to have successfully completed the Intermediate Information Technology course.
